It was just a suitable option for a weekend adventure in Amsterdam with good price value. The reception staff were really friendly and helpful every time we needed assistance. When you arrive, don't hesitate to ask for directions as the area can be tricky to navigate at night.

Good location, nice staff, good breakfast.
Small rooms overlooking a fume duct, impossible to ventilate, because right in front of the room was a steam outlet of whatever. Room very small, very narrow bed as for a double room, hard to use. Bathroom without heating.

Breakfast buffet, possibility to eat earlier. Close to the train station, on foot possible. Not far from the city centre or pedestrian zone
At night some noise from the street

Overall the service was good. The rooms were compact and soundproof with exceptional views of sunrise. The breakfast was extensive with lots of appetising pastries, bread and pancakes. Staff were efficient and amazingly efficient.

Super central location and fast uncomplicated check-out
Room view of a dirty house wall and there was a lack of storage space in the bathroom for towels, among other things.

Very central location, but nevertheless very quiet. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast good. Room small but clean, for business trip completely ok.
Light in the bathroom could have been a little brighter :-)

The staff was bilingual of course and very nice. They always tried to help us. The hotel was clean and comfortable for low prices.
I was surprised by the continent breakfast which was not a buffet so we constanly had to ask for more juice or more bread but this is a detail. No aeration in the room neither in the bathroom so it was hard to make our clothes dry (it rained a lot last week-end).

Although the hotel staff mostly come from abroad (cannot give the right "inside" tips), they are all very nice and friendly. Breakfast fresh and delicious. Hotel is located right next to the central station, you can reach a lot by foot or go there quickly with public transport.
Suitable for hobbits: the ceiling is so low that either you hit your head around or you become the right Quasimodo after a while.

The hotel is situated in a great location near the city centre, we originally booked a place at the hem hotel which was further away from the city centre but one of our party broke his ankle just before our holiday so couldn't travel that far to the centre each day. The hem hotel was cheaper than the City Hotel and had far better facilities, staff and food. The only thing The City Hotel has going for it is the location.
Upon arrival the Hotel stank of damp and smoke and this only got worse when we got into our room (which was a triple room but looked more like a single room with 3 beds crammed in, if you could call them beds). The breakfast that is included in the price consisted of a boiled egg, a slice of cheese and a slice of ham with warm (not toasted) bread, and coffee, although it tasted like no coffe that I have tried before - not pleasant. Avoid this hotel unless you need to be in the centre of the city and expect a roof over your head and nothing else.

Great Value for a Family Stay
Our family enjoyed a cozy stay with a friendly reception staff. The spacious superior double room provided a comfortable experience. Breakfast offered enough variety to fuel our adventures each day. We loved the hotel's prime location near the city center. Pro tip, arrive early for breakfast to secure a table!
